Bold Landscapes 2020

Print, Exhibition

Bold Landscapes is a series of work that captures the outstanding scenery of New Zealand.

2020

It is a play-on-words approach, the design itself featuring bold shapes/colours and the phrase "bold landscape". The series has a resemblance to old travel posters but with a contemporary twist.

It is important that the viewer connects to the places and recognises the landscape itself. The angles of the shapes to define mountains, foreground, and sky is crucial for recognition.

Bold Landscapes First Edition was the foundation of the successful sequels that came after. This work was featured in the Nest Expo in Amberley, North Canterbury in 2020.

Bold Landscapes 2022 Canterbury Edition.

2022

Sticking with the formula of the previous Bold Landscapes from 2020 it allowed for the creative process to flow easily. This time around the designs became more precise on geographical identification and colour experimentation expanded.

Now that the designs were more refined, it was even more rewarding to see how viewers responded to the places themselves, sparking sentimental connections to the locations. With the great response, commissions from customers were ordered for their favourite places.

This series went onto feature a self-titled series of work at the Chamber Gallery in Rangiora, North Canterbury.

Bold Landscapes Canterbury Edition was a self-titled body of work that exhibited in 2022 at the Rangiora Chamber Gallery in North Canterbury.

The success was reflected in being the most sales and attendances for the past five years of the gallery's shows.

The early 20th century space complimented the design works, which themselves reference old travel posters with a modern twist. Creating a cohesive experience as the viewer walked around.
